Makueni County—A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Sunday night in Katuliki village, Makueni County, where a middle-aged man identified as Muumbi Makato took the lives of his two children before ending his own.

The children, aged 10 and 15, were asleep when Makato allegedly attacked them with a machete, according to Area Chief Antony Muia. The father had been living alone with the children following a separation from his wife.

Authorities discovered the bloodstained weapon at the scene. Chief Muia noted that Makato had been a reclusive figure in the community, which has left many puzzled about what might have driven him to commit such a horrific act.

The bodies of the three family members have been taken to Kilome Nursing Home by the police as investigations continue.
